Emerald Necklace continuity myth

Boston's Emerald Necklace is a park system designed by Frederick Law Olmsted that links parks from the Back Bay to Franklin Park; many people assume it is a single uninterrupted park. In reality the Necklace consists of a series of connected parks, parkways, and park spaces separated at points by streets, buildings, and infrastructure. The Back Bay Fens is one prominent segment of the Emerald Necklace and illustrates how the system is a designed network rather than one continuous greenway.
