Lancaster County House of Employment

The Lancaster County House of Employment, also known as Old County Hospital Building No. 1, is a historic building located in Lancaster Township, Pennsylvania. Constructed between 1799 and 1801, this two-story stone structure features a full-width front porch with Tuscan columns and Gothic Revival details added in the 1870s. It has served various purposes over the years, originally functioning as a poor house and later as a hospital and county offices. Recognized for its historical significance, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in American history and architecture.
