Yew Hill-Robert Ashby's Tavern-Shacklett's Tavern

Yew Hill-Robert Ashby's Tavern-Shacklett's Tavern is a historic inn located near Delaplane, Virginia, originally known as 'Watts Ordinary' before 1760. Built between 1760 and 1761, this Colonial-era tavern features a distinctive jerkin-head gable roof and is set on a stone foundation. The property includes several outbuildings, such as a meat house from the same period, a barn built in the late 18th and mid-19th centuries, and the ruins of a spring house dating back to around 1800. The tavern served as a social hub until 1879 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2005, making it a notable site for tourists and researchers interested in early American history.
