Hedges-Lemen House

The Hedges-Lemen House, also known as 'Fort Hill,' is a historic home located near Hedgesville in Berkeley County, West Virginia. Built in 1748 by Joshua Hedges as an Indian fort, this two-story limestone dwelling features a central block and an added wing from 1792. The house measures 36 by 30 feet, while the wing is 30 by 28 feet. The property also includes a stone barn dating back to around 1840 and the Lemen family cemetery. It was recognized for its historical significance and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991, making it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers interested in early American history.
