Ponizovsky House

Ponizovsky House, located at 42 Povarskaya Street in Moscow's Arbat district, serves as the Embassy of Afghanistan. Originally designed by Lev Kekushev in an Art Nouveau style, the building has undergone significant alterations, losing its distinctive features over time. Established in the early 20th century, it was initially part of a luxury residential development. The embassy has remained operational through significant political changes, including the Taliban's rise to power in Afghanistan, and is now represented by Gul Hassan as the first permanent ambassador accredited by Russia since the Taliban's takeover.
