Carroll–Hartshorn House

The Carroll–Hartshorn House, built around 1700, is one of the oldest structures in Reading, Massachusetts. This historic First Period house features a classic two-story, five-bay design with a central chimney and a distinctive saltbox appearance due to its rear shed extension. Notable for its taller and narrower windows, some of which retain their original surrounds, the house reflects the architectural style of its time. It has been in the Hartshorn family for generations and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in early American history.
