Pohjola Insurance Building

The Pohjola Insurance building, located at the intersection of Aleksanterinkatu and Mikonkatu in central Helsinki, is a stunning example of Finnish national romantic architecture, designed by the renowned firm Gesellius, Lindgren & Saarinen and completed between 1899 and 1901. Originally serving as the headquarters for the Pohjola Insurance Company, the building features a unique façade made of rough-hewn soapstone and red granite, adorned with intricate sculptures inspired by Finnish folklore, including figures from the Kalevala. Its striking corner tower topped with a pinecone-shaped roof adds to its charm.
