Porticus Argonautarum

The Porticus Argonautarum, also known as the Portico of Agrippa, is an ancient Roman structure located in the Saepta Julia, a significant public square in the Campus Martius. Built in 25 BC by Marcus Vipsanius Agrippa to honor his naval victories, this portico features decorations that celebrate the mythological journey of Jason and the Argonauts. Today, remnants of the portico can be found near the basilica of Santa Maria sopra Minerva, with a brickwork wall still visible along the eastern side of the Pantheon. This historical site offers a glimpse into Rome's rich architectural heritage and its connections to mythology and public life.
