Homer House

Homer House, built in 1853 in Belmont, Massachusetts, is a historic Italianate mansion that served as the summer residence of wealthy merchant William Flagg Homer and his family. Notably, it was frequented by the renowned artist Winslow Homer, who created several works inspired by the house and its surroundings. The Belmont Woman's Club acquired the property in 1927 to prevent its demolition and has since used it for community events and cultural activities. The house features exquisite architectural details, including a grand foyer with a circular staircase, original stained glass windows, and a magnificent library. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979 and continues to be a hub for local events, including the annual Belmont strawberry festival.
