Seattle Underground tours in Pioneer Square

The Seattle Underground tours guide visitors through subterranean storefronts and passageways beneath Pioneer Square that were left when the city rebuilt at a higher street level after the Great Seattle Fire of 1889. These guided tours were popularized in the 1960s by local author Bill Speidel and continue to operate as an interpretation of Seattle's early street-level history.
