Old Globe Theatre and Craig Noel

The Old Globe in Balboa Park traces its origins to a 1935 Shakespeare festival; Craig Noel served as its longtime producing artistic director and was a central figure in expanding the Globe into a major regional theatre. Under Noel's leadership the company grew to include multiple performance spaces and year-round programming. The Old Globe remains a principal cultural institution in San Diego.
