Prospect Hill (Arlington, Virginia)

Prospect Hill in Arlington, Virginia, was once the site of a Federal style mansion built in 1841 by contractor James Roach. The property, located on Arlington Ridge Road, was seized by Union soldiers in 1861 during the Civil War and later demolished in 1965, though a historic marker now commemorates its significance. Roach contributed materials for notable local infrastructure projects, including the Alexandria Canal. Following the September 11 attacks, Prospect Hill gained attention as a vantage point for photographs of The Pentagon. The area also features Prospect Hill Park, a 0.4-acre green space.
