Park Street Station - Tremont Street Subway

Park Street Station, adjacent to Park Street Church, opened in 1897 as part of the Tremont Street Subway, which is the oldest subway tunnel in North America. The station was constructed beneath existing 19th-century streets and buildings and marked the start of Boston's rapid transit system. Park Street remains a major MBTA transfer point and retains portions of its original late-19th-century tunnel alignments through modern renovations.
