Godoy House

The Godoy House, located on Independência Avenue in Porto Alegre, Brazil, is a historic building dating back to 1907 and is one of the few remaining examples of Art Nouveau architecture in the city. Originally built for the Meyer family, it later became a social hub for Porto Alegre's elite after being acquired by psychiatrist Dr. Jacintho Godoy in 1939. The house features intricate floral motifs, wrought iron details, and a carefully designed interior that includes a drawing room, dining room, and music room, all adorned with original frescoes and stained glass. Listed for preservation in 1996, the house now serves as a cultural heritage site, offering insights into the architectural and social history of the region.
