Van der Nootska Palace

Van der Nootska Palace, located in Södermalm, Stockholm, is a historic building constructed between 1671 and 1672 by architect Mathias Spieler for military officer Thomas van der Noot. The palace features an ornate facade with pilasters, festoons, and mermaid decorations, framed by two wings and a small garden. Originally serving as a residence for Dutch ministers, it has undergone various transformations, including a church and a tobacco factory. Saved from demolition in the late 19th century, it was renovated into a private residence by Jean Jahnsson, who amassed a remarkable collection of Swedish silverware, art, and literature. After Jahnsson's financial downfall, much of his collection was donated to the Stockholm City Museum. Since 1988, the palace has been utilized for conferences and banquets, now owned by the City of Stockholm, making it a unique venue for events steeped in history.
