Banktown / Wall Street of the South quip

Charlotte is home to major banking headquarters including the Bank of America Corporate Center, the city's tallest building. Because of the concentration of bank headquarters and financial firms in Uptown, locals commonly joke that Charlotte is the 'Wall Street of the South' or refer to it jokingly as 'Banktown.' The Bank of America Corporate Center is a frequent reference point in that banter and appears prominently in the skyline.
