Armadillo World Headquarters (demolished music venue)

Armadillo World Headquarters was a concert hall and cultural center that operated in Austin from 1970 until it closed in 1980. It was located at a converted warehouse on Barton Springs Road and became nationally known for hosting country, rock, and progressive music acts. The building was demolished shortly after the venue closed, and the site no longer contains the original structure. The Armadillo's legacy is cited as influential on Austin's music culture and on the city's later reputation as the "Live Music Capital of the World."
