Fort Negley stone walls and interpretive markers

Fort Negley, a Union-built Civil War fortification, retains hand-cut stone walls, foundations, and terraces that are visible on site. The National Park Service and Metro Nashville have placed stone plaques and interpretive markers around the park to identify fort features and to note the role of soldiers and laborers in its 1862–1863 construction. The preserved masonry and markers mark the fort’s original defensive works within Fort Negley Park.
