Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (Ballard Locks) waterfront views

The Hiram M. Chittenden Locks (Ballard Locks) connect the Lake Washington Ship Canal to Puget Sound and include visitor facilities, a fish ladder, and botanical gardens. From the locks' waterfront areas and nearby Magnolia bluffs visitors can view Puget Sound and, on clear days, the Olympic Mountains to the west. The locks are a documented historic U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility opened in 1917.
