Hoyt Arboretum's global tree collection including dawn redwood

Hoyt Arboretum in Washington Park maintains a living collection of more than 2,300 species and varieties of trees and shrubs from around the world. The arboretum includes specimens of rare or rediscovered species such as the dawn redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides), a species once thought extinct and reintroduced into cultivation in the 20th century. Hoyt was established in 1928 and features roughly 12 miles of trails through its collections. The arboretum is managed by the City of Portland in partnership with Friends of Hoyt Arboretum.
