Indianapolis City Market

The current Indianapolis City Market building was constructed in 1886 in a Richardsonian Romanesque style and replaced earlier market houses on the same site. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has continuously operated as a public market space into the 21st century. Its long use as a commercial marketplace reflects Indianapolis's 19th-century urban development and civic planning.
