JKP Tower

JKP Tower, located in the heart of George Town, Penang, Malaysia, is an iconic office building that was completed in 1998. Originally known as UMNO Tower, it serves as the state headquarters for the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) and is notable for being the first skyscraper in Malaysia to incorporate bioclimatic features for natural ventilation. Designed by architect Ken Yeang, the 21-storey tower features innovative elements such as wing walls and individual balconies. The building has a rich history, including a tragic incident in 2013 when a lightning arrester fell, resulting in fatalities and raising concerns about its structural integrity. Following significant political changes in Malaysia, the tower was renamed JKP Tower in 2018. Its unique architectural design and historical significance make it a noteworthy site for tourists and researchers alike.
