Scuola dei Varoteri

The Scuola dei Varoteri is a historic building in Venice's Dorsoduro district, facing Campo Santa Margherita. Originally established in 1311 as the home of the confraternity of tanners and furriers, it moved to this location in 1725. This unique two-story brick structure is one of the few remaining scuola minori, which were once prevalent in the city. Over the years, it has served various purposes, including a firewood store, a movie theater, and a fascist education hall. Notably, the second floor features a marble relief of the Madonna della Misericordia from 1501, originally part of the guild's church.
