Wesley Plattenburg House

The Wesley Plattenburg House, located in Selma, Alabama, is a historic residence completed in 1842, showcasing a blend of Greek Revival and Italianate architectural styles. Originally built for Wesley Plattenburg, a successful tailor turned merchant and city council member, the house was part of a vast 2,200-acre plantation inherited from a friend. Notably, it is one of the few surviving structures linked to the Battle of Selma, as the city expanded around it. The house is recognized for its historical significance, being listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage and the National Register of Historic Places, and it was included in Alabama's Places in Peril in 2005, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers.
