Top viewing area at Lombard Street's crooked block

The famous crooked block of Lombard Street at 1099 Lombard Street features eight tight switchbacks built in 1922 to reduce the steepness of the hill. A small viewing area at the top of the block offers framed sightlines down the serpentine roadway and toward Russian Hill, Coit Tower, and portions of the bay that are less apparent when driving the street. This elevated pedestrian vantage is a popular but relatively compact viewpoint compared with broader city overlooks.
