Long Wharf - early 18th-century maritime wharf

Long Wharf, projecting from State Street into Boston Harbor at 1 Long Wharf, traces its origins to the early 1700s and became one of the city's principal commercial wharves by the 18th and 19th centuries. Over time the wharf was extended and rebuilt to accommodate growing maritime trade; portions of it remain in active use for ferry terminals and harbor services. Long Wharf's long-running maritime function makes it a surviving piece of Boston's colonial and industrial-era waterfront infrastructure.
