The Bay Lights (Leo Villareal)

The Bay Lights is an LED light sculpture by Leo Villareal mounted on the western span of the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge, first illuminated in 2013. The installation uses roughly 25,000 white LEDs controlled by algorithms to produce changing patterns visible from the Embarcadero and other waterfront vantage points. Initially installed as a temporary project, it was later reinstalled and upgraded to remain a long-term public artwork.
