Liberty Hall (Forest, Virginia)

Liberty Hall, located in Forest, Virginia, is a historic Federal-Style home built in 1778, notable for being one of the few remaining structures from the 1700s in Central Virginia. Originally named Solitary Hall, it has a rich history, including visits from Civil War figures like Rutherford B. Hayes and William McKinley. The house survived the destruction that befell many nearby homes during the Civil War, thanks in part to the hospitality of its then-owner, William Read. Liberty Hall has remained in the Read family for over a century and is recognized on the National Register of Historic Places.
