South Side Market Building

The South Side Market Building, located in Pittsburgh's South Side Flats neighborhood, is a historic market house built in 1915 after the original structure was destroyed by fire. It is one of the last two market houses in Pittsburgh and features distinctive Romanesque architecture designed by architect Charles Bickel. Notable for its well-scaled stone cartouche and industrial aesthetic, the building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in local history and architecture.
