1939 Transbay Terminal (demolished)

The Art Deco Transbay Terminal opened in 1939 as a major bus and ferry transfer point on the Embarcadero at Mission Street. The terminal was closed and demolished beginning around 2010 to make way for the new Transbay Transit Center (Salesforce Transit Center), which opened in 2018; the original 1939 structure no longer exists. The location has since been redeveloped as the Salesforce Transit Center and related transit infrastructure.
