SOWEGA Building

The SOWEGA Building, also known as the Southwest Georgia Melon Growers Association Building or The Watermelon Building, is a historic landmark located in Adel, Georgia. Constructed in 1930, this three-story red brick structure features a commercial architectural style with distinctive green terracotta watermelons that symbolize the region's agricultural heritage. The building, which has undergone renovations over the years, is notable for its terracotta trim and marble base. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990 and currently houses the Adel-Cook County Chamber of Commerce, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring the history and culture of Southwest Georgia.
