Belle Meade Historic Site and its association with William Giles Harding

Belle Meade Historic Site was the 19th-century plantation and mansion owned by William Giles Harding, a prominent Tennessee landowner and horse breeder. The property became known for breeding and racing thoroughbred horses in the 19th century and operated as a large agricultural enterprise prior to the Civil War. The Greek Revival mansion, outbuildings, and grounds are preserved as a museum that interprets the site's history, including its equine industry and the lives of the people who lived and worked there.
