The Frick Collection - Henry Clay Frick's Mansion Museum

The Frick Collection is housed in the former Gilded Age mansion of industrialist and art patron Henry Clay Frick and opened to the public as a museum displaying his collection of Old Master paintings, sculptures, and decorative arts. Frick (1849–1919) assembled the collection in New York and endowed the house-museum to preserve and display the works in his residence. The museum retains much of the building's original domestic architecture and is a documented example of private collecting turned public institution.
