Peck-Crim-Chesser House

The Peck-Crim-Chesser House, built in 1884, is a historic two-story red brick residence located in Philippi, West Virginia. This striking example of Late Victorian architecture features multiple gables, tall chimneys, and a wide porch with Tuscan columns. The house has a rich history, originally owned by prominent local figures Cora May Crim Peck and her husband Melville Peck, who were influential in the community and established a local newspaper. After changing hands within the family, it remained in the Crim lineage until the 1980s. The interior boasts original woodwork and finishes, making it a fascinating site for tourists and researchers interested in architectural history. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984 and is part of the Philippi Historic District.
