Trevino–Uribe Rancho

The Treviño–Uribe Rancho is a historic fortified home located in San Ygnacio, Texas, with origins dating back to 1830. As one of the oldest surviving structures from the Spanish-Mexican settlement era along the lower Rio Grande, it showcases a unique L-shaped sandstone design with thick walls and a fortified entrance. Originally built by landowner Jesus Treviño as a refuge, it was expanded by his son-in-law Blas Maria Uribe in the mid-19th century. The rancho features original elements, including a polished stone sundial, and was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1998, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in Texas history.
