Palace of Fine Arts sculptural ornamentation

The Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District features extensive classical-style sculptural ornamentation and a monumental rotunda originally erected for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The rotunda and colonnades include large sculpted friezes and decorative figures that define the site's Beaux-Arts character. Much of the visible ornamentation was reconstructed in the 1960s to match the original 1915 appearance, preserving the site's sculptural program for public display.
