Petersen House - site of Lincoln's death

Petersen House, located directly across from Ford's Theatre, is the boarding house where President Abraham Lincoln was taken after he was shot and where he died the following morning. The National Park Service operates the Petersen House as a historic house museum preserving the room where Lincoln died and related exhibits. Its tucked location behind the theater and narrow interior spaces make it a compact, historically dense site that many visitors overlook on a routine walk-by of the theater.
