Montezuma (Norwood, Virginia)

Montezuma, also known as Spring Hill, is a historic house near Norwood, Virginia, built around 1790. This remarkable example of Piedmont Virginia Federal architecture features a two-story main block and a 1+1⁄2-story wing, constructed in Flemish bond brick with a Roman Revival dwarf portico. The home is linked to the Cabell family, early settlers of Nelson County, and is often associated with Thomas Jefferson due to his friendship with the family and influence on its design. Montezuma was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980, making it a significant site for both tourists and researchers interested in American history and architecture.
