Hueco Tanks rock art

Hueco Tanks State Historic Site contains one of the densest concentrations of prehistoric pictographs and petroglyphs in North America, along with numerous bedrock basins that collected water. Archaeological studies document repeated Native American use of the site for ceremonial and practical purposes over thousands of years. The site is managed with area closures and permit requirements to protect sensitive rock art and culturally important locations.
