The Arsenal (Central Park)

The Arsenal, located in Central Park, was constructed in 1851–1852 as a municipal arsenal and is one of the park's earliest buildings. Since the late 19th century it has housed New York City Department of Parks & Recreation offices and an exhibition space known as the Arsenal Gallery. The building's rugged brick exterior and military origins make it a distinct historic feature within Central Park's landscape.
