Charles Winship House

The Charles Winship House, located in Wakefield, Massachusetts, was a prominent example of Colonial Revival architecture built between 1901 and 1906 for Charles Winship, a key figure in the local knitting industry. Designed by the renowned Boston firm Hartwell & Richardson, the mansion featured intricate details such as a flared hip roof and a grand two-story portico. After serving various purposes, including a convent for the Sisters of Charity, the house faced significant damage from a fire in 2005 and later vandalism. Despite efforts to restore it, the historic house was ultimately demolished in 2020, marking the end of an era for this once-stately residence.
