Dr. Joseph M. and Sarah Pound Farmstead

The Dr. Joseph M. and Sarah Pound Farmstead, located in Dripping Springs, Texas, is a historic site that offers a glimpse into the life of early Texas settlers. Founded in 1854 by Dr. Joseph McKegg Pound and his wife Sarah, the farmstead spans 750 acres and features the oldest existing building in Dripping Springs, a log cabin originally built in a 'dog-trot' style. This site served multiple community functions, including a medical office, church, and schoolhouse. The farmstead is now a museum that showcases the history of the Pound family and their contributions to the area. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995 and opened as a museum in 2003, making it a valuable destination for tourists and researchers interested in Texas history and pioneer life.
