The Tsentrosoyuz Building

The Tsentrosoyuz Building, located at 39 Myasnitskaya Street in Moscow, is a remarkable example of early 20th-century architecture, designed by the renowned architect Le Corbusier in collaboration with Nikolai Kolli. Completed in 1933, this government structure originally served as the headquarters for the Central Union of Consumer Cooperatives and features office space for 3,500 people, along with a restaurant, lecture halls, and a theater. The building showcases Le Corbusier's innovative architectural principles, including pilotis, curtain-wall façades, and free floor plans, aimed at enhancing circulation and accessibility. Despite facing construction delays due to material shortages, the Tsentrosoyuz Building remains a significant landmark, praised for its modernist design and functionality, and currently houses the Russian Federal State Statistics Service and the Federal Financial Monitoring Service.
