Frogmore Plantation

Frogmore Plantation is a historic cotton plantation complex located near Ferriday, Louisiana, that serves as a working farm and tourist attraction. The site features significant structures including the Gillespie manor house, built in the Greek Revival style around 1843, and a unique system cotton gin, one of the few remaining examples of its kind. The plantation also includes a row of slave cabins and has been recognized for its historical importance, being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Visitors can explore the rich history of the plantation, including narratives from former enslaved individuals, and learn about the evolution of cotton processing. The plantation was opened for public tours in 1997, although it suffered a fire in 2019 that destroyed the main house.
