Lincoln Theatre (U Street Corridor historic venue)

Opened in 1922 on U Street, the Lincoln Theatre is a historic performance venue that served as a major cultural center for African American entertainment during the early- and mid-20th century. The theater hosted vaudeville, jazz, and motion-picture programming during segregation and was later restored and reopened as a performing arts venue, retaining its early-20th-century theater architecture within the U Street historic district. It remains a landmark of the city's cultural and architectural heritage.
