St Mary's Road drill hall, Southampton

The St Mary's Road drill hall, a Grade II listed building in Southampton, was completed in 1889 and served as the headquarters for the 1st Hampshire Artillery Volunteers. It played a significant role during both World Wars, housing various artillery units and contributing to coastal defenses. After being decommissioned in 1974, it transformed into the St Mary's Community and Leisure Centre, serving the local community until its temporary closure in December 2021. Following a successful campaign, it reopened in August 2022 under new management, continuing its legacy as a community hub.
