Customs House, Maryborough

The Maryborough Customs House, a heritage-listed site in Queensland, Australia, was designed by architect John Smith Murdoch and completed in 1899. This historic building replaced an earlier customs house from the 1860s and reflects the architectural trends of the federation period, blending Australian and English styles. Located on Richmond Street, it features a single-storey customs house and a two-storey residence, both constructed with locally made materials. The Customs House played a significant role in the development of Maryborough as a port city, especially during the gold rush era, and is now recognized for its historical and architectural significance, having been added to the Queensland Heritage Register in 2005.
