The Bay Lights viewed from Embarcadero Center

The Bay Lights is a large-scale LED light sculpture by Leo Villareal installed on the western span of the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge that debuted as a temporary installation in 2013 and was later made permanent following fundraising and restoration. The nightly, dynamic light patterns on the bridge are frequently photographed from the Embarcadero waterfront and buildings such as Embarcadero Center, producing widely shared images and time-lapse videos. The installation is a documented public artwork that generated substantial social-media and news attention during its initial run and subsequent permanent display.
