Julia Ideson Building (Houston Public Library)

The Julia Ideson Building opened in 1926 as Houston's main public library building and is named for Julia Bedford Ideson, the city's first head librarian. It now houses the Houston Metropolitan Research Center and special collections focused on local history. The building is an architecturally significant early-20th-century public building in downtown Houston and remains part of the Houston Public Library system.
