Van der Nootska Palace

Van der Nootska Palace, located in Södermalm, Stockholm, is a historic building constructed between 1671 and 1672 by architect Mathias Spieler for military officer Thomas van der Noot. The palace features a striking facade adorned with pilasters, festoons, and mermaid sculptures, framed by two wings and a small garden. Initially serving as a residence for Dutch ministers, it underwent various transformations, including a church and a tobacco factory. Saved from demolition in the late 19th century, it was renovated and expanded, housing an impressive collection of Swedish silverware, art, and literature. Today, the palace is owned by the City of Stockholm and functions primarily as a venue for conferences and banquets, making it a unique destination for tourists and researchers interested in Swedish history and architecture.
